What are your top 3 games of horse racing? Tell us why!
For me :
1 - Gallop Racer 2004 That may be the oldest of all my horse games, but I like it the most! There is always something to do, we must buy pasture, hall and etc.. You can see the foals grow and evolve and I love it. They are too cute! I also like being able to run several horses at the same time. I like the system of seasons, years, etc.. Almost perfect game to have fun for hours. The downside; the graphics are a bit old. Qualities: Gameplay & Breeding Defects: Old graphics I recommend this game to: All players like me who is interested in genetics and like to see their foals grow.
2- G1 Jockey 2008 I love this game. I love the gameplay. The races are very fun to play! Steeple chase is pretty nice. I love being able to train my horses. In fact the only thing I dislike is genetics and breeding is not pushed enough. The foals are any color, you can reset foals to the infinity ... Not very realistic. Qualities: Great graphics & Gameplay & Training Defects: Genetics and breeding. I recommend this game to: Players who love the jockey career and want good graphics. Horse training is fun.
3- Gallop Racer 2006 I do not like this game so much because the horses are too fast and you can not see the foals grow. And... you can only run one horse at a time... that's not cool. The only thing I liked about this version are the titles, there are a lot and it's a very good goal to want to collect them all. Qualities: Graphics & Titles Defects: Gameplay & Breeding I recommend this game to: Players who want to try this game lol...

well here's my list
1) Gallop racer 2004 likes: The story line was invovling and the fact that you were allways doing somthing was really nice. I also liked all the different trianers and rival jockeys. dislikes: The controls for me, were really hard to get a go grip on. (before I played this I had only played GR2003 ANB so the controls were different enough that it bugged me) That and I thought the game started out a bit slow but it got better
2) Gallop racer 2006 likes: lots of titles and breeding freedom. I really liked how powerfull you could breed your horses to be and I'm still trying to breed a perfect horse. That and I like that you get a grown horse right after breeding. while foals are cute I'd rather race now! dislikes: BORING!!! (at times) while I really do like this game and I am really invested in it right now I will openly admit that it can be horriably boring, mostly when you know you have to race say 20-25 horses because you went on a breeding spree and now you (because you just had to breed for late growth curves) are stuck till year 7 or later because the game won't let you retire the horse before it peaks making every horse raced a tedious affair. Oh and lastly, YOU CAN'T BREED EVERY GAME HORSE!!!!! GAhhhhhhhhhh!!!! (this pissed me off so much till I started breeding reallt nice horses)
and 3) Gallop racer 2003:ANB likes: nice set up and the controls are good and easy. The breeding is simple enough and you can run multiple horses dislikes: foals take up space in the barn and you can only have so many horses. unlike in 2004 where you can race as many horses as you want.

1) G1 Jockey 4 (PS2) I love the game, gameplay and everything around it. The horses and people are almost real to see, the races are very realistic and you have to play it a lot will you be the best. But there are always things to change I guess to I always make some notes from things I'd like to see in the next game or things who can go in my opinion.. If I had the chance to make my own game, I think this one will look like G1 Jockey but so much more extensive. haha.
2) Gallop Racer 2 (PS2) The game is nice. But there was on the box of the game 'From 3 years old'. Well, I don't think so, because I was 11 years old when my mom bought him for me and on that age he was pretty difficult. The horses are nice, you have to do something before you can breed etcetera.. That's a good thing. But the races are not my thing. You have to think to much before you can win him. The horses are to fast tired! And what you'd say, it's nice to see the foals grow.
3) G1 Jockey 3 It's a nice game and officially I like this one more then Gallop Racer, but I was dissapointed that you can't breed. More I don't have to say about this game. Just like part 4, a fantastic game! And now hope that Koei will come with lots of more horse racing games like G1 Jockey and Winning Post!

#1 for me of the games that I have played is hands down Winning post on the sega saturn. you are the owner that can go to auctions and hire the trainers for your horses you also hire the jockey to ride in the race for you when you have enough money you build your own farm and hire a stable hand for breeding you can have up to 6 broodmares and there are a huge selection of studs however the stud fee could be very high. If you have a horse that is good enough you get an invite to the french grand prix. any way its is a very deep game. the only con is graphic's are very outdated but that is the only flaw.
#2 I would have to say the g1 jockey games just because they are story driven
#3 gr6 I love this game I think the challenge to breed the best horse is awsome and might be the best feature to the game

1) Gallop Racer 2006 - The game is never ending! True you can earn all your titles and beat the Dream Series and Dream Cup, but you don't unlock the best breeders until the end. Compared to other racing games I have played, GR06 offers you the most realistic horses and Jockey motions. I really don't have anything bad to say about the game. (US PS2)
2) G1 Jockey 3 - this is the only G1 Jockey game I have played, so I have nothing else to base it on. In terms of horse your horses preform, this game has a slight edge on GR; horse injuries, personal workouts, and steeplechase. Injuries don't happen often. Workouts - can actually improve your horses readiness for a race from adjusting them to a pace they do not favor to just getting them in better shape for the race. I did like how you can save your game before during a racing day as long as you have not started that particular race. No real complaints other than the game has a tendency to freeze. (US PS2)
I do not have a number three because the other games I have played aren't really a favorite. GR 04 was entertaining but was very different from 06 in the fact that you are a jockey and breeding is more realistic. NTRA Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships - 2005 - was a slow loader, you have 5 or 6 horses that you race, it is easy to injure your horse, and on race day you need to remember the races you entered because you start on the paddock with every race. Also BC has what I call a "blue screen of death" which can appear at any point during the game and requires you to restart the game - losing anything you haven't saved.
